Indiana Covered Bridge truss types
Burr Arch Truss |
J.J. Daniel's, J.A. Britton, and the Kennedy Family used this truss most. The majority of Covered Bridges in Indiana are like this. |

The Kennedy Family used this modification from time to time. The Longwood & Moscow are like this. |
Burr Kingpost Truss |
The Kennedy's built several short spans like this. The only remaining one is the Homer in Rush County. |
Howe Truss |
The second largest number of covered bridges in Indiana use Howe Truss spans. They were built by a variety of builders and there were some differences in styles. |

Bean Blossom Bridge in Brown County uses the Modified Howe Truss, shown here. |

Long Truss |
The New Brownsville bridge in Columbus at Mill Race Park has the Long Truss (Originally built in 1840 at Brownsville in Union County, the New Brownsville Bridge was moved in 1986 to Columbus and re-named). |
