The HOLTON Bridge

Holton Bridge

Crossing Otter Creek and constructed with a Howe truss, this 112 foot long structure was built by Thomas A. Hardman in 1884. The Holton bridge was bypassed in 1996 and is closed to traffic.

Established in 1816 and named in honor of General E.W. Ripley, a commander during the War of 1812, this county is located in Southeastern Indiana where Versailles is the County Seat.

Ripley County originally had eleven (11) covered bridges. Today it has two (2) remaining.

Points of interest in the County include: The Tysen United Church and Versailles State Park.
